Instructions for authors

General information
JTCT is an important academic publication in the field of tourism research, indexed by Cabell’s, CEEOL, EBSCO, ProQuest and other relevant databases. It is an international double-blind peer-reviewed biannual journal. External reviewers cover a wide range of expertise, and they are based in Australia, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Romania, South Africa, Turkey, the United States and other countries (for details see the members of the editorial board). This journal aims at providing both professionals and academics with an overview of theories and practices in the tourism industry, while focusing on challenges and trends currently manifest throughout the world.

Editorial policies for authors
JTCT publishes original contributions. Papers presented at international events which have not been published or are not considered for publishing elsewhere are also accepted for peer revision. Topics of interest include all subjects that relate to the theory and practice of tourism. Contributions in the field of cross-disciplinary areas are encouraged.
Copyright: The Association holds the copyright for the published papers. However, with the editor’s proper consent and using full citation, authors can make the respective works available in others situations, such as: on their websites, on universities blackboard systems, as teaching materials, etc.
Authorship: The author must complete and email a form “Manuscript submission form” along with the electronic submission of the article. The manuscript transfer form guarantees that the author has the copyright and responsibility of the paper submitted, and that s/he agrees to transfer the rights to the Association in case the contribution is published. If there are several authors, their coordinator or one of the authors designated by the others has to submit the form and represents all the authors in the relation with the editorial office. The responsibility related to the content of the paper, conflicts of interests and others remains to the author(s).
Reprints:  Authors are not entitled to free issues, but authors benefit from discount rates.

Guidelines for submission
Only electronic submission is accepted (submission@journaltct.ro). The paper should be sent with the filled “Manuscript submission form”, which is available on journal’s website or could be obtained from the editorial office. In the case of multiple authorship, just the author to be in further contact with the editorial team has to fill the form for all the others.

Proofreading: The submitting author is responsible for preparing manuscript in a clearly written style, in acceptable, scholarly English, with no errors of spelling, grammar, or punctuation. The editorial office provides proofreading, but if too many errors are present the paper would be returned.
Figures and tables: Should be black and white or in grayscale. No graphic material should be larger than 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches. All figures and tables have to be numbered and referenced.
Photos: Only black and white or grayscale photos are accepted. For submission procedure they are included in the text, for final printing separate pictures have to be sent, larger than 300 dpi. All photos have to be numbered, have copyright if the case, and have a title.

Evaluation and acceptance

Proposals are reviewed for free. In case a final paper is accepted for inclusion in one of the issues of the JTCT, it will not be published until the author subscribes to the journal. The publication fee is justified by the costs of managing and printing the journal, in the context of increased access to all the articles through prestigious international databases.

Manuscripts are evaluated according to the following principles:
– Sound academic grounding: use of consistent and appropriate methodology, based on the latest sources and published research in the respective fields;
– Originality and innovation: innovative and original approaches are favored in a comprehensive perspective encompassing imitation, assimilation, experimentation, continuous improvement and research-based activities;
– Correlation with current practices in the field: articles should tackle urgent and up-to-date issues and challenges currently manifest in the respective fields, as well as identify relevant trends and developments in this respect;
– Practical focus and bearing: submissions are encouraged to be practice-oriented and be applicable in the respective fields, they should be both descriptive and have a relevance and scope beyond the specific situations under analysis;
– Relevance to the topic of the issue: each call for papers shall comprise a new topic for every issue, as well as the submission guidelines to be observed.

Corrections: The reviewers might suggest certain revisions, additional work on paper. The author in contact with the editorial office has to send back the accordingly modified paper, with incorporated suggestions, before the deadline specified in the review report.
